ABOUT THE REBATE
Premier Roger Cook unveiled the solar battery rebate as part of WA Labor’s election campaign. The WA Government has committed to a $387 million initiative designed to assist WA homeowners in purchasing solar batteries for their solar systems, providing long-term relief from rising living costs.
By 1 July 2025, the WA Government will be offering 20,000 rebates for WA home owners for residential batteries of up to $5,000 for Synergy customers and up to $7,500 for Horizon Power customers, with the value to be determined by the size of the battery.
The battery rebate for up to 19,000 Synergy customers will be $500 per kilowatt hour (kWh) for up to 10 kWh of battery capacity. Up to 1,000 Horizon Power customers will be eligible for rebates of $750 per kWh for up to 10 kWh of battery capacity.
So if you are an existing synergy customer and choose to purchase a 10kWh battery you will receive a rebate of $5000.
A similar number of no interest loans of up to $10,000 will also be made available to assist lower to middle income households to take part in the scheme. We will provide more information on this when the state government makes more available.
The only catch is that with already 531,000 solar systems installed in WA there is going to be extremely high demand for the rebate. This means you’ll need to get in fast to have a shot at cashing in on this free $5000. Thats where SolarKings is here to help!
